What a great name! You can thank Jim Roberts of Florida SunCoast Orchids for coming up with that gem of a name. There are 3 species in the breeding of Little Mermaid (C. walkeriana x Bc. Maikai). B. nodosa gives flower shape, C. bowringiana flower count and C. walkeriana for colour. This E. phoenicea of ours blooms with 50-55 flowers on a branched inflorescence. The flowers have the sweet smell of chocolate milk. The offspring of the hybrid will have pink flowers, many with random fuchsia spots, dark pink lips, broad and veined dark purple. The upright stems will hold 15 or more flowers.
