Barrita Orchids
Cattleya Orchid SVO10864 (Pot. Rubescence 'SVO' AM/AOS x Slc. Virginia Dickey 'Diamond Orchids' AM/AOS)
Imported seedling from Sunset Valley Orchids, USA, bred by Fred Clarke.
Pot. Mem. Alida Laboy
Ever since we flowered the first of these several years ago, I have wanted to remake this cross. Virginia Dickey (Slc. Pink Doll x Sl. Pole-Star) is a darling mini-Catt. Plants flower twice a year and something 3 times, in 3” pots and have sturdy stems holding 3-4 bright red flowers of superior form. The shapely, solid dark red flowers and darker red lip of Rubescence (Blc. Oconee x Slc. Seagulls Apricot) give the flowers of this hybrid excellent shape and a rich red colour. The flowers of the offspring will look like a superior Virginia Dickey with larger flowers on plants 6-8" tall. This is a proven cross and well worth having. Check out the second photo of one from the first batch.
