Barrita Orchids
Cattleya Orchid Hybrid SVO11309 (Lc. Mini Purple 'SVO' HCC/AOS x Slc. Angel Eyes 'SVO' AM/AOS)
Hybrid seedling plant in a 50mm tube.
According to the pot tag we have had Lc. Mini Purple 'SVO' in our collection since 1992, that’s 33 years ago! And even after all this time it is still one of the largest Mini Purple flowers awarded. Angel Eyes (Slc. Bright Angel x Lc. Little Dipper) has also been in our breeding program for over 20 years and it has created many successful crosses, including lots for this year. It imparts beautiful flaring, flat, full petals, good flower size, reduced plant stature, and ease of growth in its offspring, that’s a lot of good qualities. I suppose I could have made this cross 20 years ago, sometime inspiration takes a while! The expectation is for large, flat flowers approaching 4” across, most all will be flared in purple, with plants just 6-7” tall.
Imported Seedling from Sunset Valley Orchids, USA. Picture shows the parent of this cross. The above description was written by Fred Clarke and details the expectation of this hybrid.
