Barrita Orchids
Cattleya Orchid Hybrid SVO11302 (Slc. Virginia Dickey 'Diamond Orchids' AM/AOS x Lc. Koolau Seagulls 'Volcano Queen' AM/AOS)
Hybrid seedling plant in a 50mm tube.
Koolau Seagulls (C. Wilbur Chang x Lc. Seagulls Milarina) 'Volcano Queen' has a very impressive flower display with 13-15 well-arranged, starry red flowers on a straight upright 2-foot-long stem. You read that right – two feet tall! . Virginia Dickey (Slc. Pink Doll x Sl. Pole-Star) is quickly becoming one of the most notable breeders in our stable. It flowers twice a year and occasionally 3 times, in 3” pots, it has sturdy stems holding 3-4 bright red flowers of superior form. Here we have crossed the tall Koolau Seagulls with the mini Virgina Dickey. These have been so vigorous that some are blooming already. 4-5 flowers in deep red on sturdy stems from a compact plant, impressive.
Imported Seedling from Sunset Valley Orchids, USA. Picture shows the parent of this cross. The above description was written by Fred Clarke and details the expectation of this hybrid.
