Hybrid seedling plant in a 50mm tube.
This coerulea version of Valentine (C. loddigesii x C. warneri) caught our attention at the Spring San Diego Orchid Show, we liked the yellow throat and flower size, the owner had a division, and we had to have it! We have made several hybrids with it, and it’s a good breeder for flower size and colour. The flowers of Floralia's Azul (Lc. Memoria Jack Hayden x C. walkeriana) have good shape colour and size, the plants are just 8” tall, and its also flower in early spring. In our blue breeding program, one area of focus has been for large flowers on small plants. This cross will continue that theme. These will bloom in March, early for most blues. The flowers will be large in relation to the plants stature, and the flowers will be well presented in 3 or 4’s on strong stems.
Imported Seedling from Sunset Valley Orchids, USA. The picture shows the parents of this cross. The above description details the expectation of this hybrid.
