Hybrid seedling plant in a 50mm tube.

Large well-formed coerulea flowers on small plants are the expectation here. Mini Purple (C. walkeriana x L. pumila) is a tetraploid mutation found in a large group of clones flowered in Japan.  It was a real standout, with heavier substance and larger flowers with wide segments it stands 5” tall, and blooms twice a year. C. mossiae ‘4n’ has large 6.5” flowers of good shape and color, the plant produces 4-5 blooms on strong stems in early May. I have high expectations for this cross.  Mini Purple is known to flatten flower form and mossiae to give size and bloom period.  With this cross, we are looking forward to seeing 3-4 large flowers on compact, robust plants in May. This is a great and very promising cross!

Imported Seedling from Sunset Valley Orchids, USA. Picture shows the parent of this cross. The above description was written by Fred Clarke and details the expectation of this hybrid.
