Barrita Orchids
Cattleya Orchid Hybrid SVO8062 (C. Elegans f. coerulea 'Keeper' x C. Interglossa f. coerulea 'Purple Tower' BM/JOGA)
Hybrid seedling plant in a 50mm tube.
This Elegans (C. tigrina x L. purpurata) has impressively large flowers over 6” across. Although only a few small spots are visible, you know there are recessive spotted flower genes from tigrina in there. This C. Interglossa is a result of crossing the coerulea colour forms of C. intermedia v. aquinii and C. amethystoglossa although the ‘Purple Tower’ does not show the aquinii characteristic in its flowers the trail is in its genes. These will be tall plants with large heads of light coerulea flowers and darker blue spots. We expect about 30% to have blue-flared petals and blue-spotted sepals. These will be very collectable.
Imported Seedling from Sunset Valley Orchids, USA. Picture shows the parent of this cross. The above description was written by Fred Clarke and details the expectation of this hybrid.
