Hybrid seedling plant in a 50mm tube.
Pot. 1st Lt. Ron Schulte
This George King (Blc. Buttercup x C. Bob Betts) cultivar ‘Southern Cross’ is the yellow flower mutation of the well-known ‘Serendipity’ which has peach coloured flowers. Here we are using the yellow mutation ‘Southern Cross’ crossed with the yellow and red lip of Little Toshie (Blc. Toshie Aoki x Sc. Beaufort). The expectation is for yellow, full shaped flowers, with broad segments, and full ruffled red lips. These flowers will look like standard large Cattleya flowers however the plants will be just 10” tall.
Imported Seedling from Sunset Valley Orchids, USA. Picture shows the parent of this cross. The above description was written by Fred Clarke and details the expectation of this hybrid.
