Looking for the next new thing in breeding takes perseverance, and although large intense purple flowers aren’t new, reducing plant size down to 6-8” tall is.  Over the last couple years, we have been making more hybrids in this style. Rubescent Doll (Pot. Rubescence x Slc. Purple Doll) has been a very impressive cross. It was quick to bloom from flask and did so on small plants, with large flowers of excellent shape and an intense, rich red-purple colour. Hisako Akatsuka (Pot. Honolulu Jewel x Blc. Scarlet Pokai) has sired several superior hybrids such as Pot. Dream Circle and Pot. Hawaiian Prominence, which you see mentioned elsewhere in this listing. Hisako Akatsuka is known to pass along its fine flower shape, colour, and compact growth habit.   This cross has the potential to achieve our breeding objectives. Plants will begin to flower in 3” pots and be fully grown in 4” pots. Their stature will not exceed 8” tall, and plants will produce inflorescences carrying 2-3 well-shaped dark magenta-purple-red flowers with full ruffled lips. This is a very promising pairing!
