Barrita Orchids
Cattleya Orchid Hybrid SVO10890 (Pot. Dean’s Gold ‘Dean's Gold' AM/AOS x Pot. William Farrell 'Native Son')
Hybrid seedling plant in a 50mm tube.
Dean’s Gold (Pot. Little Toshie x Pot. Memoria Jim Nickou) has a beautifully shaped 3”, bright golden-yellow flower with a bit of red on the lip. The plant is very compact - just 8” tall. William Farrell (Slc. Helen Veliz x Bc. Llano) is impressive, and its ancestry is a veritable who's who of Cattleya breeding in the 1950's and 60's. 'Native Son' has beautiful flowers in a soft peach, and the strong stems hold 5-6 well-arranged flowers above the foliage. Here we are expecting 4-5 light rose lavender to yellow flowers of excellent shape with full, contrasting lips. This is a very high potential cross for excellent quality flowers on a compact plant. You have got to check out the first plant of this cross to bloom picture.
Imported Seedling from Sunset Valley Orchids, USA. Picture shows the parent of this cross. The above description was written by Fred Clarke and details the expectation of this hybrid.
