Barrita Orchids
100mm Cattleya Orchid Seedling (C. lawrenceana 'SVO II' x C. aurantiaca 'SVO 4n')
Hybrid seedling plant in a 100mm pot.
This lawrenceana can carry up to 16 flowers, that a lot for flowers! as with all lawrenceana the flower shape in poor with floppy petals, the most attractive part of the flower is the lip, they are tubular and have a darker purple lip. This cultivar of aurantiaca is a tetraploid, as a result the flowers are fuller and have a heavier substance. The offspring will mostly be triploids, indicating they may not be fertile; however, triploids are not all bad... the plant will grow well and be very floriferous. These will resemble C. Guatemalensis (C. aurantiaca x C. skinneri) just with more flowers and tubular lip.
Imported Seedling from Sunset Valley Orchids, USA. Picture shows the parents of this cross. The above description details the expectation of this hybrid.
