The parents in the breeding of Dubiosa (C. trianae x C. loddigesii) produce impressive heads of white flowers with a bit of lavender in the throat, and the 5-9 flowers are surprisingly long-lived up to 8 weeks. Laelia anceps ‘South Africa’ is a line-bred strain from Lorens Grobler of South Africa. Its exceptional shape, large flower size, and 4 flowers per stem make for a top-quality anceps. Tokyo Magic) has good stems supporting 5-6 bright white flowers with splashed petals, yellow centrally and red at the tips, and the red-purple lip with a yellow throat.  I am really looking forward to this one! Flowers should be bright white, and the petals will be flared in red, many with yellow centres, and crimson-red lips with yellow throats. Candy Sparks (Mem. Trudi Marsh x Angel's Fantasy) is a true mini-Catt - plants are just 6” tall – the flowers are beautifully flared in red and yellow, and flower twice a year.  Candy Sparks has produced many fine mini-Catt hybrids, and it’s used frequently in this year’s list.  In the cross we are testing the effect of a compact Catt will pair with a mini-Catt. We know from previous experience that plants will be 6-8” tall, flowering first in 3” pots and maturing in 4” pots, with 3-5 flowers displayed just above the foliage.  The flower colour outcome is harder to predict. Grandee) is a very special plant. One of its parents, Lc. Grandee (Lc. Mrs. Medo x C. Aeneas), is a prominent parent in the history of Cattleya breeding from the 1950's and 60's. This influential hybrid is made up of three species: C. dowiana 75%, L. tenebrosa 12.5%, and C. bicolor 12.5%. Summerland Girl blooms with an astonishing 21 large, waxy, bright red flowers with contrasting purple-red lips. The plant is 2' tall and, when in bloom, the inflorescence adds an extra foot - really spectacular!\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"apple-converted-space\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eChinese Bronze (C. bicolor x Blc. Chinese Jade) has very flat, rounded, and wide bronze petals and a bright lip reminiscent of the bicolor parent.
